A brokerage before it was a lender.

Cake Mortgage Corp. was founded in 2018 by mortgage originators in Chatsworth, California. We started by sending files to wholesale lenders, so we know what a broker waits on: a straight answer on a scenario, conditions that make sense, and someone who picks up the phone.

Today we lend only through brokers: Non-QM, DSCR, and closed-end seconds, underwritten in-house against published guidelines with no overlays.

Four things we hold to on every file.

Run by originators.
The founder spent more than 15 years as an originator and brokerage owner before starting Cake. The people setting policy have sent files to wholesale lenders themselves.

Talk before no.
A complex scenario is a reason to call, not a reason to decline. Send it before you submit and an account executive tells you which program takes it, or what would have to change.

No overlays.
The published guidelines are the rules. Underwriting applies them as written, so what you read in the book is what the file gets judged against.

Your borrower, your client.
We lend only through brokers, so we never compete with you for a borrower. The relationship stays yours, and we price and underwrite so you can give them good advice at a good rate.
